Ingredients & FAQs

What's inside?

No mystery ingredients, no small print. Here's every single thing in a pouch and exactly why it's there.

Ingredient by ingredient

Oligosyrup (prebiotic fibre)

Our sweetener and our star

A syrup made of short chains of plant sugars that your small intestine can't digest, so they pass through to your colon almost untouched. That's why it tastes sweet and chewy but delivers barely any sugar and roughly half the calories of sugar. Once it reaches the gut it acts as a prebiotic — food for your bifidobacteria and lactobacilli — which produce short-chain fatty acids linked to a healthier gut lining, steadier appetite signals and better regularity. It's what gets 27 g of fibre into a 50 g pouch, close to a whole day's UK recommendation of 30 g.

Berry fruit juice mix

Real fruit flavour (Berry Bears)

Concentrated blackcurrant, raspberry and strawberry juices carry the flavour instead of a lab-made 'red fruit' compound. They bring naturally occurring polyphenols and anthocyanins — the plant compounds studied for their antioxidant activity — plus the tartness that stops a sweet tasting flat.

Potato starch

Texture and dusting

A simple, naturally gluten-free starch used to mould the bears and stop them sticking together. It gives the bite that satisfying resistance rather than the greasy softness you get from added fats or oils.

Pectin (gelling agent)

The chew, without gelatine

Pectin is a soluble fibre extracted from fruit — usually citrus peel and apples. It sets our bears, which means they're fully plant-based and suitable for vegans, unlike traditional gelatine gummies. As a soluble fibre it also forms a gel in the gut that slows digestion, helping keep blood sugar and cholesterol in check.

Citric acid (acidifier)

The tang

The acid naturally found in lemons and limes. It sharpens the flavour so the sweetness reads bright rather than cloying, and it keeps each pouch stable and fresh without artificial preservatives.

Black carrot juice concentrate

Natural colour

Our colour comes from vegetables, not synthetic dyes such as Allura Red. Black carrot is naturally rich in anthocyanins, giving a deep berry-purple tone plus the antioxidant compounds that come with it. No E-number colours, no hyperactivity warning labels.

Natural flavouring

Cola and berry character

Flavour compounds derived from natural sources — citrus oils, spice extracts and vanilla for the classic cola profile, fruit extracts for the berry. Nothing artificial, and no added sugar hiding in the flavour system.

Carnauba wax & coconut oil (coating)

Non-stick shine

A whisper-thin plant-based glaze. Carnauba wax comes from the leaves of a Brazilian palm and coconut oil from pressed coconut flesh; together they stop the bears clumping in the pouch and give them their gloss. Both are used in tiny amounts — the pouch still has under 0.1 g of fat per 100 g.
